Sedation Dentistry

Sedation is the most effective way to make the visit to the dentist a pleasent one when patients suffer from any kind of dental anxiety.

Our specialists are certified to do different levels of sedation so that patients like you can benefit from simple to major dental work.

Nitrous-Oxide Sedation

Nitrous-oxide or laughing gas has a calming effect that makes the visit more pleasant. The patient breathe nitrous oxide in through a small mask that covers the nose. After a while, patient will feel relaxed, happy, slightly numb and disconnected from what is happening around. Nitrous-oxide does not numb the teeth so anesthetics are still necessary.

Oral Sedation

Oral Sedation is a medication given to the patient to relieve anxiety before or during a dental procedure. Depending on the total dose given, oral sedation can range from minimal to moderate. The pill is usually taken about an hour before the procedure. The patient may feel drowsy, but will still be awake. This type of sedation further enables the patient to respond appropriately to physical and verbal stimulation.

I.V. Sedation

Intravenous Conscious Sedation refers to a depressed level of consciousness produced by the administration of pharmacologic substances. The medication is administred into the vein, so it acts faster. This method allows the dentist to continually adjust the level of sedation as needed.
